Other downtown hotels: There are four major conventions in town this weekend so the sooner you book the better. There are many within walking distance of the Oregonian: Marriott Waterfront, Marriott City Center, Hilton, Heathman, Hotel Lucia, Aces Hotel, Hotel Deluxe. The average single room rate for the downtown area is $160-$180 per night.
Airport hotels: You will get a less expensive rate for hotels near the airport with free parking. Portland’s light rail system, MAX, will get you downtown from the airport very easily and cheaply (two bucks each way) in about 45 minutes (schedule). The Pioneer Square MAX stop [
