Here are the top U.S. front pages today in the wake of yesterday's New Hampshire primary.
Given that the No. 2 most overused word of last night's coverage was "comeback," I did NOT just see five major newspapers use "Comeback Kids" as a headline!
Some solid efforts, indeed. Bakersfield made nice use of its Big L with a mirror image down the right side. But WaPo missed the mark with not one but two Hillary color/analysis pieces on the cover. And too many fronts missed the mark, in my view, by running Hillary's photo predominantly ... say what you will about quality of art, but such play doesn't help allay perceptions of media bias. The OCR had nice balance; the Denver Post's lede shot of Hillary was rather weak, I thought. The Boston Globe and Virginian-Pilot felt particularly well balanced. The Red Eye and Florida Today tipped to Hillary's side (but I was heartened to see some lede heds try "McCain, Clinton ... " sted "Clinton, McCain ... " If anyone thinks I'm harping on the perception issue too much, check out The State's cover for a taste of what it looks like from the other side ... with McCain the predominant image. Just sayin' ... Meantime, I have to wonder what the Detroit News will do when Nov. rolls around, after that huge "RESURRECTION" hed.
And in the race for best mug-and-big-number results package, I tip my hat to the Seattle Times, the Austin American-Statesman and the Des Moines Register. Great level of detail all around.
Posted by: Geoffrey Giordano at January 11, 2008 7:35 AMHey guys,
you're making great blog and I learn a lot from it. I'm photographer, but I do get involved in covers of Mladina weekly / Slovenia / EU. I know weekly is a different category so I'm asking you is there a similar blog about weekly magazine designer?
And since blogs are about shearing information... Here are two covers where I was involved:

On the last one there is Minister Drobnic, when he proposed a law that abortion would be payable by women taking the abortion.
Keep up the good work!
