It doesn't look all that bad.
I wonder how much it sold for...
Posted by: Patrick B at September 6, 2006 9:35 AMLook different, Hi quality small ad, is good start.
Posted by: j. Tony Fernandez-Davila at September 6, 2006 2:55 PMLooks better than the sometimes gaudy and inappropriate ads that ran on every paper's front page in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, I suppose.
But it's still a huge leap backwards in terms of credibility. Front pages are for news, not ads, commentary or editorials.
Posted by: Stephen A. at September 6, 2006 5:18 PMFrom a reporter's standpoint and longtime WSJ reader, I hate it.
From a designer's viewpoint, I wish they had offered a banner ad along the bottom instead. I think it would make the page look a little more balanced and it would still create an illusion of a front page news block, unencumbered with ads.
Posted by: MV at September 9, 2006 12:32 AMI'm agree with MV, need more balance. Ad look great but with a banner ad like USA TODAY it would be better
Posted by: j. tony Fernandez-Davila at September 9, 2006 9:09 AMThey do offer a banner option. There was at least one 1.5"-deep strip ad this week.
