The judging of the Pictures of the Year International competition began this week and the Newspaper/General divisions were capped off today with Barbara Davidson of The Dallas Morning News being named Newspaper Photographer of the Year. Todd Heisler of The Rocky Mountain News and Michael Macor of The San Francisco Chronicle were second and third. Many other winners, with accompanying photographs, on the winners page.

The Magazine Division and Editing, Best Use and Multimedia divisions will be judged over the next couple weeks. Keep an eye on the site, they've been posting winners and the judging progresses.
