Face it folks, people care about celebrities, no matter what nation they're from.
Whats with the freaken ads on the front page. I hate that.
Posted by: djizzle at December 30, 2004 8:16 AMI think it's ironic that they call themselves "The Paper That Cares" when the refers and main slug make them look indifferent to the scale of what's going on in their country. Maybe I'm cynical, but it just seems wrong to me to refer to celebrity interviews on the front in such a serious time for their country.
People care about celebrities, yes, but I think I'd care just as much if they were further inside.
I agree with you on the ads, though. Horribly tacky due to the amount of real estate they take up.
Posted by: Ernie Smith at December 30, 2004 12:56 PMJust out of curiousity, who is keeping exact track of the deaths? Their death toll box is claiming 59,186 dead - I haven't seen anyone be that specific.
Posted by: Josh Trudell at December 30, 2004 4:41 PMLets face it folks, bad taste isn't localized in the New York City area.
I'm not saying I'm a fan of putting celebrities on front pages, my point in this post and in others is that people workship these fruitcakes to the point of corrupting the design decisions of large publications.
It's the same mindset that gives us front page magazine covers about Ashley Simpson's lipsinc foo-pah or the latest interview with a Survivor cast-away....
It's all just gross.
Posted by: djizzle at December 31, 2004 1:51 PMA fruitcake perhaps, but it's not the fault of the DJ that she was featured. The Mail is a very bad newspaper from a bad lot in Malaysia. The best thing about the paper is the ads on the front page.
