DECLARATION OF THE INDEPENDENT: TABLOID

10:05 PM, May 13, 2004

In more media news from the Sceptred Isle, after eight months of publishing as both a broadsheet and a tabloid, The Independent is going totally tabloid next week.

Over the past few months the Independent has phased out the broadsheet across the country, and today it said the response to the regional trials had been "overwhelming".

According to ABC audited circulation figures for March, sales of the newspaper have soared by more than 15% since the launch of the cut-down edition last September, to reach 258,000.

The Indy, you may recall, was judged by SND as one of the world's five best designed newspapers in February. Mario "In 20 years I see all newspapers in a tabloid format" Garcia is one step closer to ruling the world.

Heads up: After you hit "post" things may be slow and you may get an error. Most likely, your comment did post. Apologies. I'm looking for a fix.

'Dr. Mario Gomez' is not the prophet of the Tabloid Revolution. He's belatedly boosting a worldwide trend to TABs to get more consulting business.
